The Final Presentation for the OSIP Extracurricular Multicultural Collaborative Activities Was Held.
On March 15, the final presentation for the OSIP Extracurricular Multicultural Collaborative Activities was held at Kansai University’s Umeda Campus.
This program was implemented as part of the Osaka Social Impact Project (OSIP)—a collaborative initiative between Kansai University and Osaka Metropolitan University, selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s FY2024 program to promote social impact through university globalization.
Seventeen international and Japanese students from both universities formed five groups. Each group identified a regional challenge facing Osaka and proposed realistic solutions to be achieved by 2025, aiming to make the region a better place to live and visit.
Over a two-month period, the groups engaged in multiple discussions with mentors from partner companies: Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., Kyocera Corporation, Shimizu Corporation, Itoki Corporation, and Suppling Global Co., Ltd. The students proposed innovative ideas from diverse perspectives, including concepts such as “promoting Osaka's hidden appeal to create a city that people want to visit and live in repeatedly” and “developing a tourism city with services that truly meet the needs of foreign visitors.”
On the day of the final presentation, Group C—composed of international students from Vietnam and South Korea alongside Japanese students—was awarded the Excellence Prize. Their proposal focused on the creation of an equal relationship between Japanese and foreign residents, presenting a roadmap for the continuous and accelerated improvement of services to support the daily lives of foreign residents in Osaka.
Through continued collaboration among industry, government, and academia, this project will move forward in developing next-generation leaders capable of transforming the future of society with Osaka as their base.
