Osaka Social
Impact Project (OSIP)
OSIP is a joint effort between Kansai University and Osaka Metropolitan University funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as a part of "Multicultural Campus Project Toward Social Impact" 2024-2030. Based in Osaka, the project aims to cultivate "CHANGEMAKERS," who will transform society through the educational practice of collaborative learning.

Collaborative Learning
By engaging with peers from varied linguistic, cultural, and value backgrounds, students can enhance their comprehension of others while gaining a richer appreciation for multicultural and cross-cultural perspectives. We will delve into "global issues encountered in the real world," guiding students through the process of seeking solutions via intercultural collaborative learning.

OSIP will actively recruit and support talent essential for industries such as hospitality, manufacturing, and global expansion, aiding them in securing employment opportunities. Our aim is to nurture individuals who are deeply connected to local contexts yet equipped with a global outlook, who value diversity, and contribute to the economic development and internationalization of not only Osaka and the Kansai region but also the entire nation of Japan.

01
Online Multicultural Collaborative Learning in Practice
Kansai University and Osaka Metropolitan University are working together to promote multicultural collaborative learning in partnership with overseas partner universities, leveraging Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). Programs include SIGLOC-Online, where students from around the world collaborate to address social issues beyond physical boundaries, and Blended Mobility-style overseas programs that combine online collaborative learning with on-site visits.

- Content:Issue-based learning where multicultural teams work together to identify, propose, and improve solutions to social challenges

Glossary
- Blended Mobility:A learning format that combines online learning with on-site study abroad. By continuing learning online before and after the visit, students can achieve a deeper international experience.
- COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning):An international education method in which students from different countries collaborate online. It enables multicultural collaborative learning beyond physical distances.
- Digital Course Completion Certificate:A system that records and certifies learning achievements as digital data. It visualizes acquired skills and experiences, which can be utilized for career development.

OSIP Career Education Program
Targeting international students from Asian countries including the Philippines and India — with a focus on STEM fields — this program combines online Japanese language learning, short-term training at both university campuses, and workplace experience at Japanese manufacturing companies. The program supports international students in developing a concrete vision for their career in Japan, with the goal of facilitating employment and long-term retention at Japanese companies.

- Format:Short-term internship of less than 30 days
- Content:Research, proposal, and improvement activities addressing real business challenges
- Field/Area:Manufacturing, IT, Hospitality, etc. (expanding)
- Outcomes/Goals:Facilitate long-term retention of international students and create matching opportunities with Japanese companies

OSIP Internship Program
This program offers international students two frameworks for internship experience in Japan. The first involves a 2–6 month stay in Japan with the goal of securing a job offer through the internship. The second combines online multicultural collaborative coursework prior to arrival with internship participation and multicultural activities after arriving in Japan. The program is expanding its roster of partner industries beyond hospitality and IT to include food service, e-commerce, and manufacturing, with the aim of creating more diverse career opportunities.

- Content:Collaborate with hospitality and IT companies to tackle real business challenges

Diverse Study Abroad and Exchange Programs Incorporating Multicultural Collaborative Learning (MCL)
With Multicultural Collaborative Learning (MCL) at its core, this program offers a two-way framework combining overseas student dispatch and international student reception, along with in-person collaborative learning on campus. Kansai University provides a diverse range of dispatch programs including short-term cultural immersion, mid-term PBL-style internships, and long-term immersive study abroad. Osaka Metropolitan University advances the program through enhanced Japanese language education, career support, and the development of a welcoming environment for international students — all implemented as one unified effort.
