Kansai University Hosts Student Exchange with California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB)2/5

On the afternoon of June 8, 2026, eight students from Kansai University’s Calligraphy Club hosted a Japanese calligraphy workshop and cultural exchange session with students from California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB).

During the event, members of the Calligraphy Club provided individualized guidance, helping each participant learn the fundamentals of brush writing and create the kanji characters of their choice. Although many of the CSUB students were experiencing calligraphy for the first time, their strong interest in the Japanese language was evident. Even within a limited time, they produced remarkably well-balanced and refined works.

Through explanations of brush techniques and the meanings behind various kanji characters, participants gained a deeper understanding of Japanese culture as well as the language itself. The workshop also fostered natural interaction and friendship among the students, making it a meaningful opportunity for cross-cultural exchange.
