OSIP Program: Training in Thailand Successfully Completed
From August 31 to September 16, Kansai University carried out the Thailand OSIP Program, a 17-day initiative based in Bangkok. During the program, students engaged in a wide range of activities including exchanges with local university students, company visits, and Japanese language teaching assistant (TA) sessions.
Field trips to Ayutthaya and Pattaya provided opportunities to experience Thailand’s history and culture, while visits to local companies, including Japanese-affiliated firms, deepened their understanding of contemporary Thai society. In the middle of the program, students enjoyed traditional Thai games, further enriching their cross-cultural exchange with their local peers.
On the final day, students delivered presentations as the culmination of their learning. Each team compared Thailand and Japan on various themes, sharing insights gained through the program. Moreover, they connected online with students participating in OSIP programs in Japan and Singapore, engaging in Q&A sessions and feedback exchanges that broadened their perspectives.
The Japanese language TA activities formed the core of the program. While experiencing the challenges of teaching Japanese to beginners, participants worked through trial and error to explore how best to make lessons both understandable and enjoyable. Beyond the classroom, they also built close relationships with local students through shared meals and informal interactions.
Through this program, students not only enhanced their language proficiency and teaching skills but also cultivated intercultural understanding, problem-solving abilities, and a mindset that values diversity. We look forward to seeing them apply these experiences as they grow further and take flight from Osaka to the world.
